What the papers say

Liverpool will meet the representatives of Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette in a bid to beat Manchester United to the 26-year-old’s signature, according to the Daily Express.

The Liverpool Echo claims the Merseyside club are also confident they can win the race with Manchester City to sign Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.

And the Daily Mirror, The Times and the Daily Telegraph all believe Roma winger Mohamed Salah is closing in on a £35million move to Liverpool, while The Sun claim the player doubled his salary to £90,000 a week four days ago.

Manchester United will turn their attention to challenging Chelsea for the £80million signature of Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, according to The Independent.

The paper also claims Jose Mourinho’s team are interested in both Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata and Torino’s Andrea Belotti as they look beyond previous top target Antoine Griezmann.
