Ivan Toney and Cameron McGeehan could start for Scunthorpe

Scunthorpe’s new signings Ivan Toney and Cameron McGeehan are hoping to make their first starts for the club against Doncaster.

Striker Toney and midfielder McGeehan, signed on loan until the end of the season from Newcastle and Barnsley respectively, both stepped off the bench in Saturday’s home defeat to Gillingham.

Defenders Conor Townsend and Rory McArdle are pushing for recalls to the starting line-up as the Iron chase their second win in five league games.

Goalkeeper Matt Gilks has missed the last two games due to a calf injury and remains doubtful.

Doncaster will be without injured pair Andy Butler and Issam Ben Khemis following Saturday’s draw at Shrewsbury.

Defender Butler and midfielder Ben Khemis are waiting to learn the full extent of respective hip and ligament injuries and are expected to be ruled out for at least a month.

Mathieu Baudry, who replaced Butler at the weekend, and Craig Alcock will be vying to step in at centre-half.

Midfielder Luke McCullough is edging closer to a return after a long-term knee injury but defender Danny Andrew (knee) is expected to be out for the season.
