Rangers and St Johnstone await pitch inspections ahead of Scottish Cup trips

Rangers and St Johnstone both await the outcome of pitch inspections ahead of their William Hill Scottish Cup trips.

Rangers are due to make the long trek north to Fraserburgh but the Scottish Football Association announced a planned pitch inspection at Bellslea Park had been moved forward to 12pm on Saturday – 24 hours before kick-off.

Albion Rovers have planned a pitch inspection for 9.30am on Saturday after asking for volunteers to help clear snow off the Cliftonhill pitch in a bid to get their game against St Johnstone on.

The ground will be tested after a sample section of the park is cleared but fresh snow in Coatbridge on Friday afternoon cast more doubt on the fourth-round tie going ahead.

Livingston’s home game against Falkirk and Dumbarton’s trip to Peterhead have already been postponed, while the Friday night tie between Highland League sides Formartine and Cove Rangers was also called off.

Ladbrokes League Two matches at Stirling and Stenhousemuir were also postponed on Friday.
