Captain Krystian Pearce has thanked the Mansfield’s supporters club after an embarrassing mishap with his player of the season trophy.
The glass memento, in the club’s amber and blue colours, was broken when Pearce’s fiancee accidentally knocked it out of the window when cleaning the house.
After he contacted the Stags Supporters Association (SSA), they were able to provide a replacement trophy.
Pearce told the club’s website: “While I was away for pre-season in Portugal, my missus was having a spring clean and accidentally knocked it out of the window, so it got a bit smashed. She rang me and was upset about it.
“I’m really grateful to the SSA for sourcing a replacement as it’s valued to me.”
SSA chairman Dean Foulkes added: “SSA are very proud of our captain and had no hesitation in ordering a replacement trophy once we were aware Krystian valued it so much.
“It was lovely to hear Krystian feels very proud to be SSA’s player of the year. Krystian explained to me he was disappointed that his original amber and blue glass trophy was broken, thanked SSA for sorting him a replacement and also said he wanted to win our award this season too, which was great to hear!”
