West Brom have bolstered their squad ahead of their final Championship promotion push with three deadline-day loan signings.
Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy, Swansea’s Ecuador wide man Jefferson Montero and Fulham’s Norway midfielder Stefan Johansen will stay with the Baggies until the end of the season.
Albion, who are fourth in the Championship, are bidding to return to the Premier League at the first attempt.
Head coach Darren Moore told the club’s website: “All three will give the team different dimensions. All three have excellent experience and a real know-how of the division. They are good players with individual skill sets which will benefit the team.
“They will add more competition to the team and add to our depth and numbers at a crucial time.”
England Under-21 international Murphy has made just three Premier League starts for the Magpies this season.
Montero and Johansen bring plenty of experience having won 64 and 46 caps for Ecuador and Norway respectively. The pair are also eligible for next Wednesday’s FA Cup fourth-round replay against Brighton. Murphy is cup-tied.
Saturday’s clash with Middlesbrough begins a spell of seven games in 21 days for West Brom.
Moore said: “As a club we have not faced this kind of schedule for nearly 10 years and it is going to test us. I’ve tried to utilise the loan market as much as I can and maximise everything I am able to to help the squad. These players will do that.”
